What the app does

The ECHS Beneficiary App lets you book and manage appointments at your ECHS polyclinic, check your smart card and eligibility status, request a change of parent polyclinic, view claim status on the BPA (Beneficiary Payment Authorization) portal, and look up regional centre contacts — without a physical visit for routine tasks.

You need an active ECHS smart card already registered at a parent polyclinic before you can use the app. If you don't have one yet, see our ECHS Smart Card application guide first.

Where to download it

  • Android: "ECHS Beneficiaries App" on the Google Play Store
  • iOS: "ECHS Beneficiary" on the Apple App Store

Before entering any card or personal details, confirm the app's listed publisher matches ECHS's known technology partner (echs.gov.in itself links to sourceinfosys.com domains for its smart-card system) — a reasonable consistency check given how many defence-adjacent apps exist with varying levels of official backing.

Registration: the step most people get wrong

  1. Open the app and tap "Registration."
  2. Enter your ECHS card number — but only the last non-zero digits, without leading zeros and without the two-letter prefix. For example, a card reading "BR 0000 0123 4567" should be entered as just 1234567.
  3. Create a 4-digit Mobile PIN — this acts as your password going forward.
  4. Enter the mobile number registered against your ECHS account.
  5. Enter the OTP sent to that number to complete registration.

Logging in afterwards uses the same shortened card number plus your 4-digit PIN — not the OTP again.

Common problems and what to do

  • OTP not received, or shows invalid: a frequently-reported issue at both registration and login. Confirm the mobile number on file with ECHS matches the one you're using, since a mismatch is the most common cause.
  • Appointment booking shows a date as available, then redirects to an already-full slot: a known bug reported by multiple users — try booking again, or fall back to booking in person or by phone at your polyclinic if it persists.
  • Booked appointments disappearing from your list: reported intermittently — take a screenshot of your confirmation as a backup record.
  • App crashes or an unresponsive profile section: try reinstalling, and ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
  • Smart card visit history not updating: reported after a recent app update — if this affects you, it's worth raising directly with your polyclinic rather than assuming it's a data-loss issue.

Frequently asked questions

What card number format does the app want?
Only the last non-zero digits of your card number — no leading zeros, no letter prefix.

I forgot my 4-digit PIN — what now?
Use the app's PIN reset flow via OTP rather than repeated guessing, which can lock the account temporarily.

Can I book any polyclinic's appointments, or only my parent polyclinic's?
The app is built around your registered parent polyclinic; changing which one that is requires a specific in-app request rather than simply booking elsewhere.
