Tirupati — Special Priority Darshan

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) extends a dedicated Special Priority Darshan facility exclusively to Defence personnel and their eligible dependants. Unlike the standard ₹300 Special Entry Darshan available to the general public, Defence personnel are processed through a dedicated verification mechanism and are permitted entry through the SUPADAM Entrance, significantly reducing waiting time.

  • Eligible dependants with valid ID

Tickets are issued to in-service personnel only — this quota is not available to veterans/ex-servicemen.

  • Original Defence Identity Card
  • Original Dependant Card (for accompanying family)

Photocopies or digital copies are generally not accepted during verification.

How it works on arrival

No advance booking

Free Darshan for Senior Citizens (65+) — a separate state scheme, not the Defence quota

Andhra Pradesh's "Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's Free Tirupati Balaji Darshan Scheme" offers free darshan to senior citizens aged 65 and above. This is a general state welfare scheme open to all eligible senior citizens — it isn't Defence-exclusive, but many veterans and older dependants qualify by age, and it runs alongside (not instead of) the Defence Priority Darshan described above.

Free Darshan Timings

10:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Entry Requirement

Photo ID and proof of age at Counter S-1

Route and facilities:

  • • Entry through the gallery under the bridge, along the temple's right wall — no stairs to climb, ample space available.
  • • Free hot sambar rice, curd rice and hot milk are served after darshan.
  • • Battery cars are available from the parking area to the counter and on to the exit gate.
  • • Darshan is reserved for senior citizens only — no separate approval or influence is needed.
  • • The queue, darshan and exit are typically completed in around 30 minutes.

TTD Helpdesk: 8772277777 · Confirm current scheme rules with TTD before travelling.

Important: Carry original Defence Identity Card and Dependant Card for family. Facility may be suspended during major festivals such as Vaikuntha Ekadashi when special darshan categories are withdrawn.

Shri Sai Baba Temple

Shirdi

Is there a Defence Quota?

No. There is presently no dedicated Defence Darshan facility available for serving Defence personnel at Shirdi.

  • Issued only after physical arrival
  • At the PRO Office

Senior Citizen Darshan (60+) — the practical route for retired jawans and sailors

Unlike the rank-restricted VIP pass, Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan Trust's free Senior Citizen Darshan is open to any devotee aged 60 and above — so retired jawans, sailors and airmen who don't qualify for the rank-based VIP pass can still access priority entry once they reach senior-citizen age, same as any other pilgrim.

Documents

Valid photo ID (Aadhaar, driving licence, etc.) for age verification at the counter.

Mahakaleshwar Temple

Ujjain

VIP, Aarti & Protocol Darshan

Procedures at Ujjain can change without much public notice, so confirm current rules on arrival. Contact: 9981026111, Gate No. 4 (VIP Gate).

Current status

  • • Garbhagriha (sanctum) darshan is currently closed to everyone — only VIP darshan (₹250) is available, which reaches the first corridor (occasionally Nandi Hall).
  • • VIP entry by showing a Defence/service ID card alone is not being honoured at Mahakaleshwar or at Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga.
  • • Bhasma Aarti tickets are not obtainable through local guides or security staff.
  • • Even Protocol Darshan does not guarantee Bhasma Aarti access — pre-booking is required.

Normal Darshan

  1. Get a VIP ticket (₹250) from the protocol office and join the VIP line for darshan from the first corridor or Nandi Hall, depending on crowd levels.
  2. Showing a service ID card can sometimes get assistance to skip the VIP line, though this isn't guaranteed every time.

Any Aarti except Bhasma Aarti

  1. Go to the administration office at Gate No. 1.
  2. Submit a handwritten application requesting Aarti darshan for yourself and your guests.
  3. If approved, Aarti darshan can be arranged from Nandi Hall, with staff assigned to guide you through it.

Protocol Darshan

  1. Get a duly signed request letter from your unit; a copy goes to the ADM of the city.
  2. Once ADM permission is granted, report to the protocol office near the car parking at Gate No. 1.
  3. Collect protocol darshan guidelines and tickets from the protocol office.
  4. With this, you can move directly to Nandi Hall for darshan at any time other than Bhasma Aarti.

Book only through the official portal

The Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Trust's official booking site is shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in — Sheeghra (VIP) Darshan is ₹250 and Bhasma Aarti VIP is ₹200 there. Anyone offering "direct entry" for ₹1,000 or more outside this portal is not an official channel.
